Cyr Couturier
President
Cyr Couturier has been a research professor at Memorial University (Marine Institute) for 30 years. He has worked in the field of rural economic development (fisheries and aquaculture) since 1980 throughout the world, in Africa, South Asia, Europe and America. His career began in New Brunswick in the 1980s, where he worked with Acadian entrepreneurs, especially in shellfish farming. He has worked with Horizon TNL since its incorporation in 2008, as a member of the Board for 13 years, and is now President for a 5th time. He has served on the boards of FFTNL and RDÉE Canada
on several occasions, and continues to serve on the boards of RDÉE Canada and Le Gaboteur
as President, all organizations dedicated to connecting SMEs to the small francophone minority community of NL.
Paul Doucet
Vice-President
Paul Doucet has been working in software engineering for over 15 years. He graduated from Western University with a master's degree in physics. He is motivated by the growth and prosperity of individuals and their communities. He is also interested in technological solutions that focus on an ideal vision of the future.
Michael Clair
Treasury
Michael Clair is a former senior executive with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and Memorial University of Newfoundland, now semi-retired. During his career, he worked in the fields of tourism, culture, immigration, regional development, innovation and public policy. In addition to serving as Treasurer of Horizon TNL, he is currently President of the Conseil scolaire francophone provincial de Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador, Chairman of the Board of the Bell Island Support Network (which works in the field of detoxification), facilitator of a group dedicated to reforming the province's correctional system, head teacher of an Aikido dojo, and author of books on regional development.
Nawal Massamiri
Secretary
Nawal Massamiri, originally from Syria, immigrated to Quebec 30 years ago, where she worked as a pharmacist at the Montreal Hospital for 25 years. She retired to St. John's in 2020. She is a grandmother of 5. She is also an active member of ACFSJ, FFTNL, ConnectAînés
and FrancSavoir.
Dieudonné Keumegne
Administrator
Dieudonné Keumegne has extensive successful experience in managing large-scale projects, programs and operations across Canada, the Middle East and Africa. In addition to certification as a Professional Technologist by the Association of Professional Technologists and Technicians of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador (AETTNL), Dieudonné is certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) by the Project Management Institute in Philadelphia, USA. Dieudonné is currently working for the Government of Canada.
Anastasia Tiller
Administrator
Anastasia Tiller is a dynamic entrepreneur, educator, and visual artist living on the Bonavista Peninsula. She is dedicated to promoting the French language, art, and culture through her collaborations with various Francophone organizations in the province. In addition, she enhances local tourism on the Bonavista Peninsula by offering workshops and exhibitions in her studio and partnering with local businesses.
Kevin Bouna Djeumo
Administrator
Originally from Cameroon and now based in St. John’s, Kevin Bouna Djeumo has a versatile background that combines medical sciences, international outlook, and community engagement. His experiences in Africa and Canada have allowed him to thrive in diverse contexts and develop a deep understanding of economic and sociocultural issues. Committed to the development of the Francophone community in Newfoundland and Labrador, he contributes to initiatives that support entrepreneurship, civic engagement, and local vitality. As a member of the board of Horizon TNL, he leverages his international experience and sense of service to benefit an inclusive, forward-looking community.
Christophe Doussot
Administrator
Christophe Doussot began his career in France, his country of origin, in the ready-to-wear and fashion industry. He built solid expertise as a product manager and creative director. For many years, he collaborated with major retail chains in Canada and Europe, specializing in brand positioning.
He then moved into leadership roles in retail and hospitality, where he deepened his knowledge of customer experience and operational management.
Danielle Morin
AdministratorOriginally from France, Danielle Morin arrived in Montreal in 1979, where she began teaching adults in the evenings. Three years later, after completing training at the Université de Montréal, she started teaching in St. John’s in a French immersion kindergarten, where she remained for 25 years. She later taught at Holy Heart (International Baccalaureate) and at École des Grands-Vents. During sabbatical years, she taught at Memorial University until 2016; later, she participated in French proficiency assessments for the Alliance Française and for Immigration Canada. She also worked as a tour guide for several years for senior groups visiting St. John’s by bus from Quebec and Ontario.
Alongside her teaching career, she served on the board of the Francophone Association (FFTNL) for several years, as well as on the board of the Federation of Parents (FPFTNL). Later, she held the position of president at Le Gaboteur and at ACFSJ.
She has been the internal vice-president of FFTNL for the past six years.
