Explore TNL's Mandate

MANDATE

In addition to being involved in economic development and immigration, Horizon TNL is active in the tourism development sector in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The tourism industry has experienced notable growth in recent years as a result of a concentrated effort among the main tourism stakeholders (provincial, regional, public, and private) to establish our province as a destination of choice for Canadian and international visitors.

Here are a few pre-COVID-19 statistics:

Under the banner of Explore TNL, Horizon TNL actively participates in the development of provincial tourism in Francophone markets.

Explore TNL's mission is structured around three distinct components:

Promotion of Newfoundland and Labrador in Francophone Markets

Every two years, we publish the only French-language guide to Newfoundland and Labrador, with a print run of 45,000 copies. It can be found in many places, including tourist information centers in each region, at the two main airports (St. John's and Deer Lake), and on Marine Atlantic ferries. You can also view it in PDF format or order it online at our website ExploreTNL.ca. This site contains a wealth of useful information for planning your stay in Newfoundland and Labrador.

We also publish regularly on Facebook and Instagram, in our blog, and in our newsletter, to encourage French-speaking visitors to choose Newfoundland and Labrador as a vacation destination. With the same goal in mind, and following the provincial government's marketing policy, we participate in various tourism fairs throughout the year such as the Outdoor Adventure Show in Montreal.

Development of Franco-Newfoundland Tourism Experiences and Products

The French presence in Newfoundland and Labrador is quite historic and traces of this heritage can be found across the province. ExploreTNL strives to showcase this historical presence to both French- and English-speaking visitors.
